Do you know how much value your time is worth? Do you use the time you have to it’s full potential? I use to think the value of my time was my hourly wage at work. A raise meant my time was more valuable. Boy was I wrong! Now it has been about 3 1/2 years since I have had an hourly wage put on my time. My #1 Favorite Book for Living a Frugal Lifestyle

I’m asked all the time how we can afford to live on one income with 3 kids. I never know how to answer this as it’s not a one sentence answer. I believe a big factor is the fact that besides our mortgage we have no debt. To help keep things that way we NEVER charge more to our credit card than we have sitting in the bank.

The second main “thing” that we do to save money is actually about a million little things! If you have been reading my blog for a while now you will have noticed it’s not centered on one topic like many blogs out there, there is a reason for that. 1st I don’t think that every idea I have will work for every reader, and 2nd it takes a lot of different things to help me stay at home with the kids. Couponing on it’s own isn’t enough if your still filling your cart with over priced and unneeded items. If you use your dryer, throw out lots of useful items, don’t purchase in bulk or buy items on impulse your not going to get anywhere.

Luckily there is a “go to” guide I read years ago. I took it out of the library so many times I finally decided to purchase it! Continue reading

Peak Time Change For Summer

If you live in an area that bills your for your electricity using the time of use electricity pricing, than it’s time to adjust your use. This will help you save money. The new times for summer took affect yesterday.

Time of Use Summer Hours

Personally I try to do most things that require electricity during off peak times. However most days there are things that just can’t wait until 7 at night, I aim to get these things done during mid-peak, so keeping track of this change is quite important.

I always try to save running the washer, dryer, dishwasher and vacuum during off peak times.  How do you use off peak time to save money?
