This year for my sons birthday the theme was trains! He loves trains and of course it also had to be Thomas the Train.
We choose to decorate the table, something simple but fun. This led to the idea of trains holding most of the food.
I got aluminum loaf pans from the dollar store. I cut out black construction paper for the wheels.
To make the Thomas engine I found a coloring page on-line darkened the black and grey areas, then printed it out on blue construction paper. Saved my ink and the time to color in the whole Thomas. I glued the page to cardboard from a cereal box so it would stand up better. I cut out the whole outline so all that was left was Thomas.
To keep it standing up a used a bit of tape attached to a glass cup. The cup held the cutlery.
Once it was all arranged on the table it looked like 2 trains following each other. I filled them with the snacks. I stuck with the standard snack food veggies, chips, pretzels, cheese and crackers.
